High Standards-High Expectations-No Excuses-No Exceptions
Dear Hillcrest Families:
Welcome and/or Welcome Back to a new school year! I trust that you had a safe and enjoyable summer. We are pleased to have you all with us as we start anew on our important job of working together to provide each of our students a high level of instruction. This year, we look forward to greeting more than 1,200 students and anticipate this being another stellar school year.
Our theme for this year is "One Goal - Many Pieces". Our ultimate goal for Hillcrest High School is to increase student learning and achievement. As with last year, we will continue working hard, engaging in a set of connected activities: learning from each other, using our time and resources better, building on what data and student work told us, and figuring out how to bridge students' in-school and out-of-school lives so that others, especially parents, can help us support student learning. We are making progress, and you should take pride in what we have accomplished together. Hopefully, we have learned from our experience this past school year and can make adjustments to refine our efforts to improve teaching and learning. We will continue to focus on school improvement plans for the 2015-2016 school year.
We are extremely proud of our academic and athletic accomplishments. We are pleased to report that several of our graduates from last year are attending colleges and universities throughout the state and beyond. In addition, our girl's and boys basketball team had notable seasons. Our girls dance team qualified to go downstate for the first time in school history.
We look forward to continuing to work in partnership, developing and fostering relationships with our parents and the community. We want you to feel welcomed in our school and hope that you will take advantage of the opportunities to become involved, to learn more about the school and be a part of the many exciting activities and initiatives that will take place this year. To keep abreast of the Hillcrest happenings, please visit the school’s website often. Once again, welcome. We look forward to making this the best year yet.
