Matt is the Bremen High School District’s JOBS² Transition Program coordinator and vocational teacher. Matt has been developing the JOBS² program since its inception in August of 2008 at South Suburban College located in South Holland Illinois. The program serves students from the district’s 4 high schools, Bremen, Tinley Park, Oak Forest, and Hillcrest High School. The JOBS² program provides specialized support to students in the areas of job acquisition skills, job site training, and college academic support.
Matt was born on Chicago’s South side and currently resides in Channahon, Illinois. Matt is a 1984 graduate of Tinley Park High School and was awarded his Bachelors of Arts in History (1995) and Masters of Arts in Special Education (1999) at Lewis University in Romeoville Illinois. Matt also received a Masters of Education in Leadership from Benedictine University in 2006.
Matt has been working in education since graduating from college in 1995. Matt began his career at Joliet Township High Schools working in a Behavioral and Emotional Disorder program at Joliet West (1995-1997). Matt later moved into transitional and vocational education in 1999 assisting in the supervision of the Transition Program at Lockport East High School (1999-2002) and later working in the development of Downers Grove South’s Emotional and Behavioral Disordered vocational program (2002-2004). Matt left the vocational classroom for 4 years while working for the Plainfield School District 202 (2004-2008). Matt taught Physical Science in both the special education classroom and general education setting as an REI teacher.
Matt has many interests but has enjoyed coaching football, wrestling, and girls track at the high school level during his career. Matt enjoys long distance cycling, hiking and fly fishing with his three children (Adrian, Austin, and Ava) and spending quality time with his wife Sheri.
